Hans Vanaken: "Keep in mind what's positive"

A new skipper in town: Hans Vanaken girded the band in the absence of Ruud Vormer. Club's Golden Boot winner had a rough time against the French, even if the score is a tad exaggerated.

"Too heavy a verdicht, I say, but you can see that they are just so very efficient. This is an otherworldly level, and we should take what we can from this game. We tried going for that equaliser in the second half, but that also opened up space for them. They really made the most of that. They can keep Mbappé on the bench and bring him on, it just goes to show the quality of this team. Still I reckon we should keep in mind what's positive and keep building on that."

Club's skipper also had some words of praise for young Charles De Ketelaere. "Charles just did a fine job today. We know he has a lot of potential, we can see that at training every day. There's no comparing him to Ruud, they are two entirely different types of players." (TM)
