Ivan Leko: “Still six games to go, everything is possible”

Club Brugge face R. Antwerp FC on Easter Monday. It is the second one of two consecutive away games for the Blues. Ivan Leko looked ahead to the match.

Leko about... the team

Leko already briefly talked about the possible team selection for the match at Antwerp despite there are still a few training sessions left. "Vlietinck and Mitrovic will not join the team selection. Mitrovic is still training individually and might miss the remaining part of the season", says the coach. Last Sunday, both Sofyan Amrabat and Arnaut Danjuma acted as substitutes. Leko has many options for his starting eleven. "Rits played a weaker game on Sunday but he is already playing on a very high level for eight months. Whether Danjuma will start from kickoff? He certainly has the qualities but it is not the individual that counts. We need to be good as a team in order to win."

Leko about… KRC Genk and Antwerp FC

Club lost at Genk, the first defeat of the Blues in Play-Off 1. "Sunday was a bad day for us because it was an important game and we lost. We were not sharp enough but have to focus on Monday's game now. The penalty phase was pity because you never know how the game would have ended without that penalty. I am still supporting the VAR but you expect the right decision on crucial moments. There are still six games left and we are preparing for the match at the Bosuil. We don't have it in our own hands but the situation is the same as at the start of the Play-Offs. I focus on our team and we need to try to win every game."

"What I think about Genk and Standard who do not claim to be the favourites for the title? I always communicate open and honestly. They can do what they want. Only our own performance counts and our objective is to win the championship. On May 19, we will see whether we successfully reached our goal", says Ivan Leko.
