Club's qualification in figures

UEFA Conference League

A new page in the Bruges history books. In the return game of the Conference League quarter-finals, Club had to secure a 1-0 lead and it did so with verve. A 0-2 victory put Blauw-Zwart in a European semifinal for the first time in 32 years at the beginning of May. Our historic qualification in figures.

18 MATCHES

By qualifying for the 'final four' Club will soon play match number seventeen and eighteen of this European campaign. Never before has FCB reached that number. In 2014/15, when Club stranded in the quarter-finals of the Europa League against Dnipro, it played 16 matches.

Our European adventure this season began on Thursday, July 27, 2023 against Denmark's Aarhus. Club survived three preliminary rounds before entering the group stage. There it became group winner, allowing it to skip the playoff round of the UECL. It also successfully completed the eighth final and now the quarterfinals.

12 ZEGES

The win in Thessaloniki was the twelfth European victory of the season. This also breaks that other record from 2014/15, when we had 11 European wins. By the way, it was the first time in seven matches on Greek soil that we were able to win again.

So twelve wins in sixteen matches, furthermore we also played two draws and lost twice (to Aarhus in the2nd preliminary round and to Molde in the eighth final).

A look at our full European track record so far:

39 GOALS, 17 GOAL SCORERS

That Club is scoring a lot this season is obvious. It is also the case in Europe, as Blue-Black has already scored 39 times in this Conference League campaign. The previous record dates back to 2001/02, when FCB scored 30 times.

Those goals came from seventeen different players. Jutglà scored his first two European goals of the season against PAOK, his colleague in the striker Igor Thiago already accounted for six goals at the European level. Also scoring were Skov Olsen (7), Vanaken (5), Yaremchuk (4), Skóras, Vetlesen & De Cuyper (all 2). Spileers, Boyata, Nielsen, Rits, Mechele, Onyedika, Buchanan, Nusa and Balanta also already picked up a goal.

Relive the 0-5 win against Besiktas from the group stage below:

FIRST ½ FINAL SINCE 1992

Perhaps the most historic thing about the win is qualifying for the Conference League semifinals. The last time Club was able to qualify for a European semifinal was in the 1991/92 season. Then Club, which included Franky Van Der Elst and Vital Borkelmans, took on German side Werder Bremen.

25THON UEFA RANKING

With the victory, Club also climbed a little higher in the UEFA ranking. The ranking that keeps track of the European results of clubs over the past five years. Blauw-Zwart now counts 63 points and is thus 25th in the ranking. Never before has a Belgian club been so high in the European ranking.

Blauw-Zwart counts as many points as Philippe Clement's Scottish Rangers (2022 Europa League finalist) and Shakhtar Donetsk. Among others, it outperforms teams such as Frankfurt (winner Europa League 2022), PSV, AC Milan and Sporting CP.

SCORED 14 GAMES IN A ROW

A statistic to be proud of: Club is the only team so far that has managed to score in every game since the group stage of the Conference League. Fourteen games in a row already FCB has scored at least once.

The defensive organization is also noteworthy, because for the first time in history Club managed to keep zero in Europe three times in a row after the New Year.

FIORENTINA

Our European fairytale will continue, as on May 2 we make the move to Florence, where Fiorentina awaits. 6 days later, on Wednesday, May 8, at Jan Breydel we will hopefully bang open the gate to the final.
