Fiorentina goes down 4-1 against Atalanta

Fiorentina took on Atalanta last night in the return match of the Coppa Italia. Club's opponent in the semi-finals of the Conference League won the home game 1-0, but conceded a heavy defeat with three goals in the final quarter of an hour: 4-1 was the final score. At Atalanta former Club player Charles De Ketelaere was in the starting line-up.

The match could not have started better for Atalanta: after only eight minutes, Dutchman Teun Koopmeiners slotted home for the hosts, making things all level almost right from the start. Still inside the opening minutes De Ketelaere whipped in a cross for Scamacca who found the back of the net, but after a VAR intervention the goal was chalked off. Koopmeiners had another good chance to make it two for La Dea, but Terracciano did great to keep it out.

Seven minutes into the second half Fiorentina were down to men following a straight red for Nikola Milenkovic after ha had brought down Scamacca. The resulting free-kick crashed into the crossbar. Despite the numerical disadvantage Martinez pulled Fiorentina level when he headed in Belotti's free-kick. However, Fiorentina took the lead again with fifteen minutes on the clock when Scamacca volleyed home. The game looked to be going to extra-time, but Lookman decided otherwise with a cool finish in the 94th minute. And it was still not over. Four minutes later Lookman feeded the ball to Pasalic who made it four.

Atalanta goes through to the final where they will face Juventus on May 15 in the Stadio Olimpico. Fiorentina, currently 9th in the league, entertains Sassuolo next Sunday.
