Fiorentina wins 0-2 over Salernitana

UEFA Conference League

Fiorentina - Club Brugge's opponent in the UEFA Conference League Semi-finals - secured a 0-2 victory on a visit to Salernitana.

The visitors' first danger came through the dribbling Jonathan Ikoné. The midfielder cut inside well after ten minutes, but ex-Standard goalkeeper Ochoa had no problems with his shot. Shortly before halftime, Ikoné came much closer to a goal. After a scrimmage in front of goal, he kicked the leather just wide from close range.

Immediately after the break, Sottil appeared face to face with Ochoa, but the Mexican goalkeeper was able to keep the zero on the board. Twenty minutes before time, Christian Kouamé (ex-Anderlecht) came on and immediately made himself noticed. The Ivorian was first stopped by Ochoa, but ten minutes before time he headed the 0-1. Deep into injury time, Ikoné made the final decision.

Thanks to this victory, Fiorentina climbed to ninth place in Serie A. Next Wednesday, La Viola will play Charles De Ketelaere's Atalanta Bergamo in the semifinals of the Italian Cup. (SF)
