Ahead of Wednesday's clash with Club, Celtic also had a fine dress rehearsal, beating Hearts of Midlothian 1-4. Celtic remains unbeaten and leads the Scottish Premiership with 34 points.
Celtic could take advantage of Aberdeen's loss this weekend to move three points clear in the standings. To do so, they had to overcome the second to last in the standings, Heart of Midlothian. Hearts may sound familiar, as they visit Jan Breydel on Thursday for the Conference League match against Cercle Brugge.
The first half was in balance and a draw midway was a fine result for Celtic as Hearts missed two big opportunities, keeping Celtic in the game. The Green and Whites put things in order in the second half. Furuhashi put The Celts ahead shortly after halftime and not much later Kuhn put the 0-2 on the sheets. Books struck after 15 minutes in the second half, giving Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers the chance to start changing in view of next Wednesday. Adam Idah added a third and fourth in the closing stages of the game. In between, Hearts was able to lessen the blow through Musa Drammeh.
A logical win for Celtic allowing the team to look Club in the eye with confidence on Wednesday.
