Club Brugge won 7-0 at home against Sint-Truiden. Christos Tzolis crowned himself match winner with four goals, while Onyedika, Jashari and Vanaken also scored.
Nicky Hayen made three changes to the team that played a draw at Beerschot two weeks ago. At the back, Spileers and De Cuyper replaced Ordóñez and the injured Meijer, while at right forward Talbi was preferred to Skov Olsen. Vermant started again as a center striker and also created the first Bruges danger. However, his shot was easily saved by goalkeeper Kokubo. Shortly before, STVV could also have threatened through a shot by Brahimi that flew over the crossbar.
Blauw-Zwart constantly camped in Sint-Truiden's half and took the lead after ten minutes. After a good interception by Seys, Vermant served Tzolis and the Greek shot the cross in one time. The visitors tried to react, but got no further than a free kick from Bertaccini that went wide via the wall. In contrast, it was Club that was able to double its lead midway through the first half. Onyedika's shot ricocheted off the underside of the crossbar and back into the field, where Tzolis was quick to head in the rebound.
After 2-0, Bruges dropped the tempo a bit, but shortly before halftime they went in search of a third goal. A half-volley by Tzolis whizzed over the crossbar, while Kokubo flattened a shot by Jashari. Moments later, the goalkeeper had a fine reflex on a header by Vermant. Ogawa then wanted to clear the ball, but De Cuyper was a bit earlier on the ball, causing the Japanese player to bring him down in the box. Penalty judged ref Vergoote. Captain Vanaken awarded the ball to Tzolis, allowing the Greek to complete his hat-trick.
After the break, the Bruggelings simply continued their momentum. After a beautiful deep ball from Jashari, Talbi passed the leather to Tzolis, who delightfully painted his fourth goal into goal. A few minutes later it was even 5-0. Talbi laid the ball back to Onyedika, who curled the 5-0 perfectly into goal. And even before the hour it was 6-0, when Ardon Jashari shot the leather across the corner.
The Canaries were completely outplayed, although they did create a few chances. Mignolet saved Ito's shot, Belaid's header went over the line and when Bertaccini beat Mignolet, Nhaili was unable to capitalize on his return. Club kept the zero on the board and eventually managed to score a seventh through Hans Vanaken. Jutglà and Skov Olsen allowed an eighth goal in the closing stages. The visitors finally ended the match with a man less, after Delpupo received a red card when he went in far too threesome on Skóraś. Thanks to this victory and Antwerp's points loss, Club Brugge moves into second place in the standings.
