The training week in the Netherlands came with some hefty work so far, with two training sessions per day. Reigning Dutch champions Feyenoord were the opponents in a friendly in which the Dutchmen proved too strong for Blue & Black. Club missed two penalty kicks.
With two training sessions on Monday and on Tuesday, and another one on Wednesday morning, Club had already pulled all the plugs, and a few hours later, it was set to face Feyenoord. Club started out well, with the first real danger coming through Thiago, but it was Feyenoord that took over and took the game in hand.
Efforts by Timber and Paixao were denied at first by Mignolet, but he was helpless when Danilo tapped it home in the 36th minute. A few minutes later, Paixao doubled the lead.
Two spot kicks
Bringing on eleven new players on the hour mark, coach Ronny Deila severly brought down the average age of the group. Six minutes after coming on, Romeo Vermant took the ball for a spot kick, but Wellenreuther went for the right corner. With five minutes on the clock, Club had another go from 11 meters, but this time Cisse Sandra proved unable to get the ball past the home goalie. A defeat in its third friendly after some sturdy days at training. Next up will be Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday.
