After wins against Tekkz and JP_Sleator and a draw against Montaxer, Rudi Ekmen advanced to the knockout phase in third place with 7/12. Only the first of each pool advances directly to the round of 16.
Umut as opponent
Ekmen can also advance to the last 16, but it needs a win in Saturday's play-ins against Umut (RB Leipzig). The battle will be decided in one match. But it will be anything but simple. Umut Gültekin is a German who already has a lot on his record.
This season he won the DFB-ePokal, the German Cup, and made it to the finals of the Virtual Bundesliga. He is also a regular in the eChampions League, having finished third last year. In 2022, Umut even crowned himself the world's best in the FIFAe World Cup.
But Ekmen has since proven that he can win against world-class players. Just think of the victory in the group stage against Tekkz. If he repeats that trick against Umut, another world champion awaits in the round of 16: Manuel Bachoore of PSV. The Dutchman became group winner and thus avoided the play-ins. Last year, Bachoore succeeded Umut as world champion.
