The last international break of 2024 did not come without damage as some players have not returned to the club unscathed. At Club, Nilsson and Meijer will have to miss out on a few more matches. De Cuyper and Seys, however, are deemed fit.
Belgian internationals Maxim De Cuyper and Joaquin Seys are both ready to play for next weekend's home game against STVV. Just before the international break, Seys was forced to leave the pitch early on against Beerschot, but has been able to recover for a week and has rejoined the group this week, along with De Cuyper. A minor injury kept De Cuyper from featuring at the Belgian national team for their assignment against Italy. Both wingers are no longer out and will make the selection.
Gustaf Nilsson is back on the field, but is still working an individual program for now. The Swedish striker will miss the match against STVV. It is still uncertain whether he will be able to join the team for the Champions League in Glasgow or make it to the match against Dender next week.
Early this week Bjorn Meijer had to leave the international friendly vs England's U21 15 minutes in, clutching his upper leg and lying down immediately. An MRI scan confirmed a quadriceps injury, and the Dutch defender will again be out of action for several weeks.
Finally,Hugo Siquet also missed training this week due to illness. Whether he will be sufficiently recovered for this weekend's clash with STVV is still uncertain.
