Mignolet: "We give it away completely"
"I cannot find an explanation for this right now. We are 0-2 in front, then it's a matter of playing it out and staying in control. After that 1-2, Genk heaped up the pressure, but until then we hadn't gone into problem. That equaliser changed the entire game. We could not keep possession. Still, we had a few chances, but not enough to claim more. And in added time we concede another. We gave it away completely."
"Racing Genk changed four players at short notice and changed systems, but that should not be an excuse. With a 0-2 lead, you can't give it away and you have to finish the game. We have to keep working and learn to finish a lead and keep control. This should not happen again," he concluded disappointed. (EV)
Nicky Hayen: "Very sour and tough 1 out of 9"
A disheartened coach Nicky Hayen after the defeat at Genk. "We didn't come out of the dressing room well enough at the start of the game. With too much build-up from the back, leading to ball loss and two big chances for Genk. We found our way into the game with better build-up, which also offered us the lead at half time."
"We started the second half well and Genk struggled at times. We then scored that 0-2 and everything seemed to be going well. The moment where they made their substitutions was crucial. A lot of time is lost there so we weren't ready for that first ball after that. We very childishly switched off in that phase. The ball came into the box too easily, forcing us towards that unfortunate penalty there. We made it too hard on oursleves, really, whereas before we had enough control over the game. After that goal we didn't play the way we did at the start of the second half. We started panicking and conceded that 2-2. With the 3-2, Hrošovský got too much space. That late counter goal is very sour and so you are left with a rough 1 out of 9," a disappointed Bruges coach concluded.
