Coach Rik De Mil was positive about how his team performed, but disappointed about the outcome.
Rik De Mil: "I'm positive about my group, but too bad we couldn't finish off our chances"
"First and foremost, I want to congratulate Genk with the win", the coach starts his post-match interview. "As far as my team is concerned, I saw again a competitive Club Brugge. Considering the situation we're in that's not evident. Again, we tried to present ourselves in a positive way against a strong opponent.
We had more ball possession than Genk and that is saying something against a team known for their positive football. We once again created many chances, but then it is all the more unfortunate that we did not finish them off. Both offensively and defensively, I unfortunately see a problem. We play good football, but don't reward ourselves. In addition, we are conceding goals too easily. That obviously makes it difficult to win games. So I'm positive about my group and the way they made it difficult for Genk, but it's unfortunate and disappointing that we didn't finish our chances."
The coach also looked ahead to the match against Union. "We are all professionals, so you can be sure that we will also give 100% everything against Union, just like today against Genk. Next week we'll just go full steam ahead again. We do have a lot of players sidelined with an injry, but we will give everything with the available players. I would like to pay tribute to the young guys. Both the starters and the substitutes have more than done their jobs, so I am definitely not dissatisfied with my group. We will try to get points against Union anyway," Rik De Mil concludes. (TM)
