Our chairman, Bart Verhaeghe, has been has been unanimously elected as a director of the European Club Association (ECA), the organisation representing the biggest and most important clubs in Europe.
Verhaeghe will take the seat representing ‘subdivision 2’, which includes countries ranked between place seven and 15 in the UEFA rankings, with Belgium currently in eighth place.
The ECA defends the interests of more than 700 European clubs and has a crucial role in international football. This appointment underlines Club Brugge's growing influence on the European stage. Among other things, the organisation will play a key role in the ongoing talks on transfer market reform, an issue that will determine the future of European clubs.
