Reactions after Kortrijk – Club

Jupiler Pro League

Simon Mignolet: “We take home a neat 0-3 win. We managed to continue along the lines we set out before the international break, and we're looking forward to the Champions League.”

Club Brugge managed to bag the three points in Kortrijk. Playing a key role, goalie Mignolet helped his team with a crucial save denying Dewaele from close range in the second half.

“You know it's always tough around these parts, with many a point loss in the past couple of years. Today we take the three points, and 0-3 is a good score to be continuing along the lines we set out before the international break, and on the eve of the Champions League being kicked off. Vital points too.”

A massive reflex at 0-1 made sure Club remained in the lead. “To them this is their game of the season, which goes to show in our results in the past seasons, so I'm happy to be able to contribute to the fact that we take a win from here, making it a 12 out of 12. I'm also very happy with the team performance.”

The second half saw more fervour, but still Club managed to further widen the gap. “Kortrijk forced us to start playing further downfield. They went for that equaliser with everything they got, but I managed to save that one important attempt. Soon after it was 0-2, which killed off the game”, the goalie finished with a smile.

Nicky Hayen: “We need to up the pace of a game; at this point we do that when we don't need to, and we also slow down when we don't need  to. That's something we need to work on."

A fourth consecutive win for Blue & Black after a 0-3 victory at KV Kortrijk. Club's coach Nicky Hayen was a satisfied man.

"You could see in those first fifteen to twenty minutes that we started out really well. We decided the pace of the game, and were in full control, helping us to a well-deserved 0-1 early on. After that, it was a bit like we did in Dender, crawling back, with not enough forward pressure. It allowed Kortrijk to creep back into the game; they have a fine outfit, capable of creating chances. We had to call upon a great Simon at times to keep them from retaliating. You then try to make up for that at half time. What we need to get rid of, is that football with lots of control. We need to be able to up the tempo, and right now we are capable of doing so, but not with great timing, or we slow down when we don't need to. That's something we need to take towards tomorrow. But all things considered, this has been a neat win. We lost 1-0 twice in the past two years, and they also lost out on some points just before the international game. And you know that to them this is the game fo the year in front of their home audience, very fanatical and with lots of energy. You just know you have to match that, and the way I see it, we played a very mature game. We may have made things harder on ourselves than necessary, but that's also kudos to Kortrijk", a satisfied Club coach concluded.
